TORONTO, ONTARIO — (August 21, 2017) Symbility Solutions Inc. (“Symbility” or the “Company”) (TSX.V: SY), a global software company focused on modernizing the insurance industry, today announced that its Board of Directors has nominated D. Neil McDonnell and Ronan McGrath for election at the upcoming annual and special meeting of shareholders to be held on September 14, 2017. Mr. McDonnell and Mr. McGrath have been nominated for election along with current directors James Balas, Angela Grinstead, David Hayes, Richard Hurwitz, Robert Landry, G. Scott Paterson, James Swayze and Michael Torok. Both Mr. McDonnell and Mr. McGrath are independent of Symbility.
Neil McDonnell is currently chair of Agreement Express, edp Software, Photon Control and Coligo Software and is a recognized leader in the Canadian technology space, serving most recently as chair of QHR Technologies (acquired by George Westons in 2016), Director of TitanStar Properties and CEO of Wurldtech Security Technologies (acquired by General Electric in 2015). Previously, Mr. McDonnell held senior positions at several British Columbia’s most successful companies, including Chair and CEO TeraSpan Networks, COO TIR systems (a Royal Philips company), COO Mobile Data Solutions, and CEO Intrinsyc Software. He is active as an Executive in Residence for the British Columbia Technology Industry Association, and was formerly an advisor to the ICBC board (Transformation Committee) and a director for the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (2001 – 2011). Mr. McDonnell holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.
Mr. McGrath is a former CIO of Rogers Communications Inc., and President of Rogers Shared Services, Canada’s national wireless carrier, and largest provider of cable services. In that role, he rebuilt the entire IT infrastructure of the Rogers Group and was responsible for all call centre and customer operations. He was also responsible for the team that restructured the alliance between Rogers and Microsoft in July 1999. Mr. McGrath was previously CIO of Canadian National Railways, Canada’s largest railroad, and was responsible for the complete rebuild of CN’s IT capability, the restructuring of the company, and the development of the initial strategic review of the company’s future that led to the privatization of the company. He was awarded the CIO of the Year award in Canada in 1995, has served in the past on the advisory boards of a number of technology companies, including Compaq Computer and Lotus Development, and is a frequent public speaker. He is a Past Chair of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC). Mr. McGrath is a graduate in Business Administration at Trinity College, Dublin, and is also a Chartered Accountant.
Along with Mr. Torok and Mr. McDonnell, Mr. McGrath is a director of Photon Control Inc.

In addition, Larry Binnion, a director since 2009, has informed the Board of his intention to retire from the Board and to not stand for re-election at the upcoming meeting. “On behalf of the company and the Board, I’d like to thank Larry for his years of dedicated service to the Board and company over the years. Larry played a key role in the significant growth Symbility has experienced in recent years. We wish him all the best,” said Mr. Paterson.
